CHOICE EF 1855-C QUARTER EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

Only 3,677 1855-C quarter eagles were made and this is the third rarest date of this type/mint after the 1843-C Small Date and the 1842-C. It is especially hard to find an 1855-C in circulated grades with natural color and surfaces.

This is the best Extremely Fine 1855-C quarter eagle I can recall with even natural golden-orange color and extremely clean surfaces. The radial lines in the stars (three through nine) are flat and this is not uncommon for this date.

The only PCGS/CAC EF45 to ever sell at auction is this exact coin; see the pedigree below for more information.

This is a date missing from most sets and you would be hard-pressed to find a better one at this price point.

CAC has approved this one coin in EF45 with eight finer.

Ex Heritage 4/16: 5676 where it sold for $5,053.
