The 1854-C is a scarcer Charlotte quarter eagle with an original mintage of just 7,295 coins. It is often seen in the VF-EF grade range.
This borderline EF example has an obverse that is close to a 40 in terms of detail; the reverse has some weakness of strike and wear on the wings as well as a small mark just in front of the first A in AMERICA.
No example of this date in VF35 has sold at a public auction since February 2006.
For essentially no premium over a common date, you can purchase this affordable, scarcer low mintage Charlotte quarter eagle.
