The 1905 is, along with the 1902, the key 20th century Liberty Head double eagle. It is very scarce in properly graded MS62 and it is rare (not to mention very expensive) in MS63.
This choice, frosty example shows lovely rich green-gold and rose color which is characteristic of original, undipped 1905 double eagles. There are a few small ticks in the obverse fields which limit the grade; the reverse, on its own, is a full MS63 to MS64.
Heritage 4/14: 7011, graded MS62 by PCGS but not approved by CAC, sold for $5,875.
If you care to buy an MS63, be prepared to spend around $12,500-15,000. For my money, I’d rather have this high end MS62.
CAC has approved seven in this grade with three finer.
