This is the most common CC double eagle from the 1890′s and it is among the most available CC double eagles. This makes it popular with collectors who want to buy an example for a type set.
This is a solid coin for the grade with light orange-gold color that deepens towards the borders. There is a considerable amount of mint luster and an absence of all but a few light marks.
Due to heavy collector interest, it is getting really hard to find virtually any CC double eagles in AU50 and better with good eye appeal; especially those with CAC approval.
CAC has approved 28 in this grade with 35 finer.
