The 1889-CC is a much scarcer issue than the 1884-CC or the 1890-CC yet it commands only a small premium in lower grades.
This pleasing example is a bit softly impressed at the borders but it shows very clean surfaces and a dash of russet color on either side.
The last non-damaged AU50 to sell at auction was Stacks Bowers 11/13: 3836, graded by PCGS, at $3,643.
CAC has approved six in this grade with 34 finer.
