The 1884-CC is an available date in EF and AU grades but it is becoming harder to locate nice AU coins with natural color and choice surfaces.
This light russet-gold example has choice surfaces with a good deal of luster and no problematical marks. The reverse shows slightly deeper reddish-gold color at the lower border.
The last NGC AU53 to sell at auction realized $4,113 as Heritage 3/14: 30472. This coin was not CAC approved.
CAC has approved five in this grade with 79 finer.
