The 1883-CC is among the more available CC double eagles and it is one of the few issues from this decade which can still be located in Uncirculated. However, MS61 to MS62 is about as nice as the 1884-CC comes and it is harder and harder every year to find pleasing, properly graded examples; especially in PCGS holders.
This choice, frosty example is well struck and original with pleasing rich orange-gold and greenish hues, in similar configurations, on the obverse and reverse. There are a few small ticks seen in the left obverse field but, for the grade, the surfaces are clean and choice.
The last PCGS MS61 example to sell at auction went for $13,225 as Heritage 12/11: 4752. An NGC MS61 brought $13,225 as Heritage 4/13: 1399.
A nice example of an issue which is currently in strong demand.
