The 1875-CC is the most available Type Two double eagle from the fabled Carson City mint. It is regularly seen in AU grades but no so often with original color and surfaces.
This appealing example shows natural medium to deep greenish-gold color on both sides. There is a good amount of luster and light, even wear. A few small unobtrusive abrasions are seen in the fields and on the jaw of Liberty.
The last problem-free AU50 1875-CC double eagle to sell at auction was an NGC coin that brought $3,819 as Heritage 7/14: 4780.
A perfect type coin for the collector who wants a single affordable but above-average Type Two double eagle from Carson City.
