The 1874-CC is a slightly better date in the Type Two double eagle series and it is much harder to locate than the 1875-CC or the 1876-CC.
This evenly worn example is well detailed for the issue with medium natural orange-gold color which is a bit deeper on the obverse than the reverse.
No recent auction records exist for a CAC approved EF45 example of this date. The last two non-CAC NGC 45′s brought $3,829 and $3,819, respectively, in 2014.
CAC has approved eight in this grade with 33 finer.
