The 1850-O is numismatically significant as the first double eagle struck at the New Orleans mint. It is scarcer than the 1851-O and 1852-O and when available, it is usually seen in the VF-EF range and with liberally abraded surfaces.
This example is well worn but totally problem-free with nice natural green-gold color and detail suggestive of a VF25 or even a VF30 grade.
A non-CAC PCGS VF20 sold for $4,406 as Stacks Bowers 2013 ANA: 5324.
This is the best available quality for this popular date at less than $5,000.
CAC has approved just this one coin in VF20 with 37 finer for a total of 38 for the issue.
