GEM SLIDER 1838 HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL
The 1838 is a slightly better date in the popular Classic Head half eagle series. It is not often seen in properly graded AU58 and even less often without surfaces which have been stripped and processed.
This lovely Gem Slider has the appearance of a nice Uncirculated coin and it shows nearly full luster beneath a rich natural yellow-gold overtone. The surfaces lack the small marks typically seen on this issue and the eye appeal rivals any Classic Head half eagle in a 58 holder.
The last PCGS AU58 with CAC approval to sell at auction brought $4,113 as Legend 2/15: 302. Heritage sold an NGC AU58 with a CAC sticker for $3,290 as Lot 4465 in their March 2016 auction.
A great coin for the savvy type collector and clearly nice enough for an advanced date collector as well.
