Old Green Holder. By today’s standards, I think this coin grades closer to VF20.
The 1860-C is the second to last half eagle from this mint. Of the 14,813 struck there are around 200 or so known with most in the VF-EF range. This is only of the few that I have ever seen in a F15 holder.
This well worn coin has a nice, original appearance with medium green-gold color. There is an obverse dig near star three and a dull old scratch in the left obverse field; the reverse is weakly detailed as is always the case with this date (and the 1859-C as well).
Here is an opportunity to obtain a pleasing, affordable late-date half eagle from this mint.
CAC has approved just this one example in F15 with 10 higher.
