Variety 16-L. D/D mintmark.
Both mintmark punches are clearly visible with light magnification. This variety is more available than the Normal Mintmark 1846-D but it is popular due to the spectacular nature of the doubled mintmark.
This original example shows nice russet color with some warm reddish hues in the fields. It has the detail of an EF45 but has been appropriately graded EF40 due to some circulation marks on both sides.
A pleasing and affordable Dahlonega half eagle.
