Housed in an old Green Label holder and undergraded by today’s standards; I believe that the coin grades at least AU50 if not a hair better.
Evenly worn and struck in green-gold with some remaining luster and a pleasing overall appearance. The strike is slightly weak at the truncation but this does not correspond to the reverse. A few marks in the reverse stars limit the grade.
Remarkably, no PCGS EF45 example of this issue has ever sold at auction. In September 2014, Heritage sold a non-CAC PCGS AU50 1803/2 half eagle for $9,400.
A great entry level early half eagle with all the bells and whistles.
CAC has approved three in this grade with 69 finer.
