The 1855-O is numismatically significant as the only Type Two gold dollar from this mint. It is common in circulated grades but probably no more than 10% of the coins in holders are original and choice.
This is a textbook coin for the grade with nice color, choice surfaces and more luster than one might expect. I have seen many inferior 1855-O dollars in AU50 or even AU53 holders.
The last PCGS EF45 with CAC to sell at auction brought $1,645 as Heritage 1/14: 9988.
