SOLD – $2.50 – 1849-C PCGS EF40 CAC

$2,750.00

The 1849-C is the eighth rarest of 20 quarter eagles struck at this mint. It is very hard to locate collector grade examples with original color and surfaces as most have been dipped.

This is a very conservatively grade example which would not look out of place in an EF45 or even an AU50 holder. It shows deep, natural reddish-gold color on the obverse and reverse with some dirt in the recesses further offering proof of originality. The surfaces are nearly perfect with just a few light marks hidden by the depth of the color.

This coin is a “poster child” for originality and it has the look that true connoisseurs of branch mint gold go gaga over.

CAC has approved just this one coin in EF40 with six finer.
