VERY ATTRACTIVE PCGS/CAC MS62+ 1852 HALF EAGLE

The 1852 is one of the more available No Motto half eagles but no date of this type is common in MS62 to MS63. This is especially true of coins with enough originality and eye appeal to garner approval at CAC.

This frosty orange-gold example would almost certainly grade a full MS63 were it not for a few wispy hairlines in the left obverse field. There is some weakness of strike seen on stars six through eight but this does not correspond to the reverse border.

The only other PCGS MS62+ 1852 half eagle (NGC has yet to grade one) sold for $4,259 as Stacks Bowers 2013 ANA: 5172 and it did not have a CAC sticker.

A great No Motto type coin and the best available quality for less that $5,000.

CAC has approved five in MS62 (including this one in 62+) with eight finer.
