The 1852 is one of the more common Type One double eagles from the Philadelphia mint but it is not easy to find in AU58, especially with natural color and surfaces. Most have been dipped or processed and nearly all examples have been roughly handled at one time.
This is a handsome example for the grade with deep, even green-gold color that is contrasted by some rose highlights. With the exception of a few small obverse marks, the surfaces are very clean and wholesome.
Affordable and a good introduction to this fascinating series.
