The highly popular 1850-P is the first year of issue for double eagles from this mint and it is scarcer than the 1851-1853 issues. It is not often seen with natural color and surfaces.
This choice example is a bit “baggy” but it shows a good amount of luster for the grade and has very nice green-gold color accentuated by splashes of rich coppery-orange.
The most recent APR for an NGC EF45 example of the 1850 double eagle is Heritage 1/13: 7460, which sold for $3,525. This coin was not approved by CAC.
Nice quality for the grade and the best available example of an 1850 $20.00 at under $4,000.
