RARE PCGS MS62 1874-CC HALF DOLLAR

Around a dozen Uncirculated 1874-CC half dollars are known with the finest of these a single PCGS MS66. High grade examples are not often offered for sale and when they are, they are eagerly sought by CC silver specialists.
This fresh-to-the-market piece is prooflike with considerable reflectiveness seen on the obverse and less so on the reverse. Both sides are toned in pleasing natural speckled golden pastels and the obverse has a full cameo appearance. A few grade-limiting marks are seen in the fields but, in my opinion, this is an uncommonly choice coin for the grade.
The only PCGS MS62 1874-CC half dollar to sell at auction in close to two decades brought $19,550 as Heritage 4/11: 5152. The current example is far superior in every respect.
An important and really attractive coin.
