NICE PCGS EF45 1876-CC HALF EAGLE

With just 6,867 struck, the 1876-CC has the lowest mintage of any half eagle made in Carson City. While seemingly available in the VF-EF range, nice EF45 examples are not at all common.

This russet toned piece has good detail, nice surfaces and a much more pleasing appearance than usual for the date and the grade.

No PCGS EF45 has sold at auction since early 2010 and a total of two have crossed the block since March 2007. An NGC EF45 sold for $12,338 as Heritage 4/14: 6473.

This is likely the best available quality 1876-CC half eagle at under $10,000 and it represents an interesting opportunity for the savvy date collector of CC half eagles.
