Varieties of 1875-CC Dimes exist with the mintmark above and below the bow in the wreath. The Above Bow variety is much more available and while not really rare in MS65, few of the pieces slabbedas such are accurately graded, in my opinion.
This satiny Gem is very well struck and it shows attractive soft pastel hues over very clean and vibrant surfaces. Most MS65 examples of this variety are either dipped white or they show detracting marks.
The last CAC approved NGC MS65 1875-CC Above Bow Dime to sell at auction brought $3,525 as Gardner IV: 98285; this piece was in an older holder and appeared to be undergraded.
This coin represents excellent value and it would fit nicely into nearly any CC Dime set.
CAC has approved 5 in this grade with 4 finer.
