NICE COLLECTOR GRADE 1879-CC HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1879-CC is the most available Carson City half eagle made before 1880 but it is still a relatively hard coin to locate. Collector grade examples are usually visually unappealing due to harsh cleaning(s) and severe marks.

In my opinion, this coin is at least five points undergraded and it wouldn't look out of place even in a 40 holder. It is well detailed, free of significant marks and has pleasing natural russet color.

No PCGS VF30 1879-CC half eagle has sold at auction since early 2012. An NGC VF30 without CAC approval sold for $2,350 as DLRC 3/15: 241.

A pleasing, affordable example of this issue.

CAC has approved 3 in this grade with 15 finer.
