"SUPER SLIDER" 1870 THREE DOLLARS

The 1870 is a low mintage date with just 3,500 struck but unlike the ultra low mintage Three Dollars from the 1880's, this date was used in commerce and it is scarce in Uncirculated and very rare in MS62 and finer.

This reflective example resembles a Proof but it is clearly a business strike based on its quality of strike. It shows some light scuffing in the fields but no real wear; both sides are toned in rich orange-gold hues.

The other PCGS AU58+ 1870 Three Dollars, also approved by CAC, sold for $3,738 as Heritage 3/12: 4012.

This coin has all the "bells and whistles" that a collector could possibly hope for!

CAC has approved 17 in this grade (including two in 58+) with 6 finer.
