The 1849-C is among the more available Charlotte half eagles. It is fairly easy to find in the EF40 to AU50 grade range but not with good eye appeal and choice, original surfaces.
This is a choice example for the grade with nice, even medium green-gold color which is the “right” hue for this date. While there is no remaining luster to speak of, the surfaces are extremely clean with no marks of note. There is some weakness of strike seen on the eagle’s right leg and on the arrow feathers.
