The 1847-D is one of the more common half eagles from this mint but it is still seen far less often than dates such as the 1852-D, 1853-D and 1854-D.
This pleasing example shows nice natural color with some blushes of russet atop green-gold. The surfaces show an average number of marks but these are mostly concealed by the depth of the coloration.
The last non-CAC PCGS EF40 to sell at auction brought $2,056 as Heritage 1/13: 7153.
A nice type example for the collector who would like an affordable D mint half eagle for his set.
