The 1844-C is a scarcer half eagle from this mint although in the VF grade range it sells for little or no premium over many much more common dates.
This richly toned example shows splashes of steel pastels on the obverse while the reverse is a lighter, more even orange-gold. The details, especially on the reverse, are suggestive of a higher grade and the surfaces show no serious marks.
