The 1848-C is an obtainable date in the Charlotte quarter eagle series but it is among the more difficult issues to locate with a sharp strike and good eye appeal. Examples tend to either be poorly struck, bright from a recent dipping or both.
This is a choice, wholesome example with nice natural russet color seen on both the obverse and the reverse. A few small marks can be seen in the fields but this piece is clean and really attractive for the date and grade.
No CAC approved EF45 example of this date has ever sold at auction.
CAC has approved only two in this grade with five finer.
