The 1858 is not as scarce as the 1855 and 1856 but it compares favorably to the 1857 and is clearly scarcer than the 1854 Small Date and 1860. It is not often seen in the highest AU grades and it is quite scarce in Uncirculated.
This flashy, lustrous example is a bit “marky” as is typical for this issue. It has minor friction on the high spots and nice medium orange-gold and greenish color.
A comparable 1858 $20 in NGC AU58 sold for $4,313 as Lot 6647 in Heritage’s 1/12 auction.
