SOLD – 25¢ – 1849-O PCGS VG10

$2,350.00

RARE 1849-0 QUARTER

The 1849-O is the single rarest quarter dollar struck at the New Orleans mint. It is not seen very often above the Good-Fine range and many of the examples with this degree of wear are either damaged or have been harshly cleaned. An estimated 16,000 were struck, likely in 1850.

This is a pleasing example for the grade with natural medium grey color which becomes a bit deeper at the obverse border. The BERTY in LIBERTY is clear to the naked eye and the surfaces are evenly worn and free of problems.

No PCGS VG10 1849-O quarter has sold at auction. The last NGC graded VG10 brought $1,880 as Heritage 9/15: 3544.

An affordable example of this very rare issue.
