"GEM XF" 1841-C HALF EAGLE

While not rare in the absolute sense, the 1841-C is an extremely hard issue to find with natural color and choice surfaces. Only a handful have not been dipped, cleaned or processed and a number are found struck on poor quality planchets.

This extremely choice example is one of the two nicest Extremely Fine 1841-C half eagles which I have owned. It displays deep, even green-gold color on both sides and the surfaces are choice save for an old thin scrape in the right obverse field which does not detract.

Heritage has sold two CAC approved 1841-C half eagles in PCGS EF45 (for $3,450 and $2,703) but neither was very choice in my opinion.

If you are a Charlotte half eagle collector who appreciates uncompromised quality you will have a hard time locating another 1841-C which displays this much character.

CAC has approved 6 in this grade with 10 finer.
