A total of 5,750 three dollar gold pieces were made for circulation in 1862 and this date is not often seen in affordable collector grades.
This orange-gold "slider" example is well-defined and very lustrous with just a few small ticks seen in the inner left obverse field. There is minimal wear and the overall appearance is very pleasing.
Since 2012, this exact coin is the only PCGS graded 1862 three dollars to sell at auction; it realized $5,900 as DLRC 12/15: 7308.
CAC has approved 8 in this grade with 11 finer.
