This numismatically significant issue is the last half eagle made at the soon-to-close Carson City mint.

Too choice to grade MS62, but a bit too baggy to grade MS63, this nice example is frosty with a kiss coppery-reddish color at the obverse and more so at the lower reverse rim.

Only three APRs are seen for this date in PCGS/CAC MS62+, with the most recent at $9,000 in the Stack’s Bowers 2023 ANA auction.

CAC has approved 28 in MS62 (including a small number in MS62+) with 18 finer.
