I am a big fan of his date and I am well-aware of is scarcity in MS64 and higher grades. This is a choice example with strong claims to qualifying as a full MS64.
For the date, the strike is better than average with minor weakness seen at the centers. The surfaces show the typical semi-grainy luster as on many 1912-S eagles. A few scattered marks are seen on the cheek and on the eagle. There is a tiny mint-made copper spot on the reverse above the sprig.
The sole PCGS/CAC MS63+ 1912-S $10 to ever sell at auction brought $8,621 as Heritage 10/2011: 5081.
CAC has approved seven in this grade with 40 finer.
