PCGS/CAC AU50

The 1848-D is the single most available quarter eagle from Dahlonega but as I’ve said oodles of times there is no such thing as a common D mint quarter eagle.

I’m not sure how this coin was approved by CAC as the surfaces look pretty ticky for the grade and there is secondary color on the obverse.

With VFs of this date worth around $3k, this AU50 at around a grand more seems like really good value to me.

CAC has approved three in AU50 with 20 finer.
