The 1860 is a date which is more available than the P mints from the late 1850′s but far harder to find than the high mintage 1861. It is reasonably scarce in properly graded AU58 and it is scarce to rare in the lower Uncirculated grades.
This lustrous slider shows just a slight amount of wear and it is never been stripped or processed as have so many other examples of this date. Both sides show nice medium sunflower-gold color. There are a few scuffs in the left obverse field while the reverse is clean and choice.
The last non-CAC NGC AU58 1860 double eagle to sell at auction was Heritage 1/13: 7485 which brought $3,819.
