Variety-2. From an aesthetic viewpoint, this is one of the single nicest coins in the collection. It is well struck and lustrous and it would surely grade a full AU58 were it not for a small obverse scratch between stars five and six. The 1843-C tends to have a distinctive green-gold color as this coin shows and this is indicative of its originality.

The last PCGS AU55 CAC to sell at auction was Heritage 4/11: 6480 ($4,600) which wasn’t as nice as the present example but which did have an Eliasberg pedigree.
