The 1852-O is the fifth or sixth rarest of 21 No Motto eagles from this mint. There are around 125 or so known from an original mintage of 18,000. When available, this date is typically found in the VF35-EF45 range and properly graded AU’s are rare.
From a sharpness standpoint, this coin grades AU50 or better but it has been net graded by NGC as a result of some light scratches on the obverse near the throat of Liberty. These are hard to see without magnification and the coloration of the surfaces is a moderate dusky green-gold.
The last three EF45 examples of this date to sell at auction, all graded by PCGS, sold for $2,115, $2,530 and $3,163, respectively.
