The 1855-O is the only Type Two dollar struck at the New Orleans mint. It is not hard to find in circulated grades but I would estimate that fewer than 10% of the surviving examples have natural color and choice surfaces.

This is a perfect coin for the grade with deep, even green-gold color over very choice surfaces. The strike is far better than normal for the issue with a bold date and mintmark. The eye appeal is excellent for the date and grade.

Only two PCGS AU50′s have sold at auction since the end of 2013 and neither was CAC approved.

This is one of the most aesthetically appealing AU 1855-O gold dollars I have handled in some time.

CAC has approved just three in this grade with 48 finer.
