All 1823 dimes are overdates, and only three die varieties are known. JR-1 is only moderately scarce in this grade but this coin is a perfect, affordable piece for the quality-conscious date collector.
This untoned slider has the naked-eye appearance of an MS62 to MS63 and the only describable fault is a small obverse edge nick at 6:00 on the obverse which does not correspond to the reverse.
Only two PCGS AU58 example of this variety have appeared at auction since 2007 and the last sale was for $1,265 in January 2008.
CAC has approved five in this grade with only one finer (MS64).
