The 1874-CC is the most available early date half eagle from this mint but it is still a moderately scarce coin with an estimated 200-250 known.
This coin is actually close to being a full VF but PCGS has mistaken wear with weakness of strike. The surfaces are clean and smooth with pleasing natural russet hues seen on the obverse and the reverse.
The only other known PCGS F12 example of this date with CAC approval sold for $1,323 as Heritage 1/11: 6926. Demand for coins such as this has increased since then.
A neat, historic coin for the gold collector on a limited budget.
CAC has approved two in this grade with 20 finer.
