The 1877-CC is, along with the 1876-CC, the most obtainable Carson City dime in higher grades and one of the only non-Morgan Dollars from this mint that can be found in Gem Uncirculated.
This frosty Gem has russet obverse color which deepens to blues and greens at the right border; the reverse is a deeper blend of iridescent blue and green with a lighter center. Both sides have old fingerprints which have toned over; probably from a previous owner placing the coin in an album where it acquired the aforementioned toning. This coin is superb from an appearance standpoint with a great strike and undisturbed surfaces.
In Heritage’s 8/13 auction, a nicely toned PCGS MS66 example with CAC approval brought $5,875.
