The 1893-O is by far the most available of three With Motto half eagles from New Orleans. It becomes scarce in MS63+, and it remains an extremely rare issue in MS64 and finer.
This frosty yellow-gold example would likely have graded a full MS63 by PCGS were it not for some ticks in the medium left obverse field as well as a series of small marks in the right obverse near star twelve.
No PCGS/CAC MS62+ 1893-O half eagle has sold at auction since Stack’s Bowers 3/2021: 5826 at $3,300.
CAC has approved 33 in this grade (this includes both MS62 and 62+ coins) with another 16 finer.
