I was able to buy some great CC double eagles at the 2026 ANA, and this impressive 1873-CC was one of the nicer pieces that I came back home with. It’s literally a “textbook” coin for a PCGS AU55 1873-CC double eagle, and it sports 100% original color over lightly abraded, lustrous surfaces.
This exact coin brought over $40k at its first auction appearance. It was bad value at that level, but it is very fairly priced at its new, improved level.
