CHOICE PCGS/CAC EF45 1871-CC $10

While more available than of the CC eagles from the 1870s (save for the 1874-CC), choice EF and AU 1871-CC eagles are very scarce as evidenced by the small CAC population of five in EF45 with just three finer.

This is an outstanding example which represents the finest quality available for the grade. The lightly abraded surfaces are covered with natural russet color. In my opinion, this piece has never been lightened and, as such, this coin represents an important opportunity for the Carson City connoisseur.

Only two 1871-CC eagles graded EF45 by PCGS have sold at auction since late 2013. These are the CAC approved Jacobson coin that brought $20,400 in early 2020, and the CAC approved coin that sold for $19,975 in 8/2016.

CAC has approved five in this grade with three finer.

Ex Heritage 3/2024, where I purchased it directly for $22,800.
