CONDITIONALLY SCARCE PCGS AU58 1853-O $10
The 1853-O $10 is very common in grades through AU55, but it is scarce in properly graded AU58 and very rare in any Uncirculated grade.
This piece shows silky luster under rich golden color. It is well-defined for the issue and it is much cleaner than what is normally seen on the Euro coins which represent the majority of the higher-grade survivors for this date.
There are six APRs for this date in PCGS AU58 since the start of 2018. These range from a low of $8,100 (twice, both in 2021) to a high of $10,800 for a CAC approved piece in late 2022.
The last reported sale for an Uncirculated 1853-O $10 was for $51,600 in April 2022 for a PCGS/CAC MS61, which seems like a lot of money for a marginally interesting issue.
