Take a mintage of just 3,750 business strikes and blend that with a first-year-of-issue status and, VOILA, you’ve captured the essence of the 1866 eagle.
This well-defined example is sharp for the grade and there is some mint luster seen under medium olive toning with strong pinkish-gold hues; especially on the central reverse.
Just a single non-CAC EF45 example of this date has sold at auction since early 2021, while a nice PCGS/CAC EF45+ brought a strong $10,200 as Stack’s Bowers 2023 ANA: 1229.
Note the very low CAC population, and act lucidly as this coin-should move out the door quickly…
