Around 100 or so 1859-S quarter eagles are known and this date is scarce in all grades. Collector quality pieces are usually cleaned or have poor eye appeal.
This is a choice example which, to my eyes, looks undergraded by at least 5 to 10 points. The surfaces show dirt in the recessed areas.
