The 1893-CC is the final half eagle made at the Carson City mint before it closed. 60,000 were struck but many were melted and the survival rate is probably less than 2%. When available, the 1893-CC half eagle is generally seen in the AU55 to MS61 range and properly graded MS62′s are about the best available quality for the issue.
This is a choice, original example with excellent luster and natural light green-gold and rose color. There are some small scuffs in the fields that limit the grade but this is a far more pleasing coin than nearly any of the MS62′s that I have seen offered in the last few years. This is a perfect coin for the collector who wants a single nice Uncirculated CC half eagle but wants to avoid the ubiquitous 1891-CC.
CAC has approved four in this grade with none finer.
