PCGS/CAC EF40 1843-O LARGE LETTERS HALF EAGLE, ex Fairmont
The Large Letters is the more common of the two varieties which exist for the 1843-O half eagle.
This is a well-struck example from an early state of the dies. Both sides show rich natural green-gold color and the few marks present are shallow and unobtrusive.
No PCGS EF40 or EF45 has ever sold at auction.
CAC has approved three in EF40 with 26 finer.
